Australian Photographic Society - Contemporary Group Exhibition Co-Winner

Happy to report I have been advised I am co-winner of the APS 2022 Contemporary Group Exhibition - topic Mundane. The image is below and my ARTIST’S STATEMENT follows.:

Image title - UPWARD Stairs are a mundane, and a not uncommon occurrence in our day-to-day life. Yet they can imbue symbolic meaning beyond their simple geometric structure. They reflect cohesion, psychological groundedness and a means of moving upward (in life).

Contemporary photography is an interesting genre and can be open to interpretation. One definition is : “Contemporary photography could be described as a photograph from our own time, compared to an image from a much earlier period. ... Instead, it is a reference to an image created that reflects our values, challenges and perceptions today or, in reference to a contemporaneous period for that image”. LOCAL MORDIALLOC COASTAL

Living local in Mordialloc, Melbourne offers opportunities for coastal photography. There are sometimes dramatic, cloud skies in and around the Mordialloc pier. Here is a recent image around sunset towards the pier when fisherman and women begin to undertake their activity under dramatic skies.
